Today I made a small and easy change in my life. I unsubscribed from every bulk email I get no matter what it was for or who it was from.
For several weeks, I have been asking myself if I've ever read anything worth my time. The simple answer is no. But what about missing all those special discounts and valuable information? I'm betting even if I take advantage of 3 discounts a year (which I don't) it's still not worth my time.
And speaking of time. How much time do you spend reading those emails? I figure I've been spending roughly 15min each workday reading them and exploring their links. That may not sound like much, but consider how those little moments add up over time.
15min per day X 5 days per week = 75min per week, 300min per month, and 4050min per year! (67.5 hours)
Multiply the hours per year by how much your time is worth and you get the picture. So ask yourself the next time you get a form email, "Is this information worth my time?" For me, not even close!
